ABOUT HK DEFENSE SOLUTIONS
We Built a Security Firm Because the Civilian Industry Was Pretending.
HK Defense Solutions exists because the gap between what UHNW families, executives, and corporations actually need, and what most security firms in this market were delivering, was enormous and dangerous.
Our founder spent 12 years in U.S. Air Force special operations watching what real protection looks like.
He came home, looked at the civilian market, and decided to build something different.
HK Defense Solutions brings intelligence-led, military-grade corporate security to organizations that cannot afford a breach. We protect Fortune 500 headquarters, growing enterprises, critical facilities, and executive leadership across South Florida, the Northeast, and nationally, with an operational framework built to prevent incidents, not just respond to them.
The Operational Standard
The civilian security industry runs on optics. Uniformed personnel at the gate. Camera systems on the wall. Alarm panels on the counter. The visible apparatus of protection.
What’s missing is the unseen layer that determines whether any of it actually works: intelligence gathering before deployment, threat picture development that adapts to the principal’s actual exposure, integration between physical security and digital footprint, coordination across vendors, communication architecture under crisis conditions, and the operational discipline that turns a security program into a system rather than a collection of vendors.
The optics were never the protection. The systems and discipline behind the optics were.
This isn’t a critique of every firm in the market. It’s an observation about what the market evolved to sell. Civilian clients asked for guards, cameras, and alarms, so the industry built capacity to deliver guards, cameras, and alarms. The deeper capability, the part that comes from operating in environments where mistakes cost lives, wasn’t asked for, wasn’t sold, and gradually wasn’t delivered at scale.
HK Defense Solutions was built to deliver the deeper layer. Operationally. Quietly. As the standard rather than the exception.
John Hamilton spent 12 years in U.S. Air Force special operations.
Combat deployments to Iraq during the most kinetic period of the war. Special mission unit selection. Crisis reaction planning in environments where intelligence failures, communication breakdowns, and procedural shortcuts produced consequences that couldn’t be reversed.
He learned what protection actually involves when the stakes are real. Not the optics. The systems behind the optics. The intelligence gathering that precedes any movement. The threat picture that adapts in real time. The communication architecture that holds under pressure. The discipline that distinguishes between trained operators and people who look the part.
When he transitioned out of the military and entered the civilian executive protection world, he expected to find a smaller-scale version of what he’d done overseas. He found something else. Teams that looked sharp but operated blind. Presence without intelligence. Optics without outcomes. The vocabulary of protection deployed against actual threat environments by personnel who had never been trained to operate them.
He called it security theater.
He didn’t want to participate in it. He wanted to replace it.
That’s the origin of HK Defense Solutions. The firm exists to deliver operational protection — at the standard the threat environment demands — to clients whose exposure profiles deserve more than what the civilian market typically provides.
What We Built
HKDS is structured around six operational disciplines:
Executive Protection
Intelligence-led close protection details for principals whose visibility, wealth, or position creates threat profiles requiring active management. Drawn from special operations, federal protective services, and military backgrounds. Advance work, route intelligence, digital exposure auditing, and coordination with the broader security architecture.
Estate
& Residential Security
Multi-axis perimeter defense for luxury estates across Palm Beach, Manhattan, and the Northeast corridor. Designed for waterfront properties, gated communities, and barrier-island residences. Armed Class G personnel, integrated surveillance, counter-drone operations, and seasonal security protocols.
Corporate
& Family Office Security
Converged physical-digital security for corporations, family offices, and the principals who lead them. Insider threat programs, executive protection integration, workplace violence prevention, and the operational coordination that financial services firms, family offices, and Fortune 500 enterprises require.
Armored Transport
Protective ground transportation between airports, residences, offices, and event venues. Route intelligence, counter-surveillance, and pattern disruption integrated into every movement. Staging from PBI, FLL, MIA, Opa-Locka, Boca Raton Airport, and Teterboro.
Threat Assessment
& Risk Management
Comprehensive vulnerability analysis covering physical security, digital exposure, staff access, insider risk, and the integration points where most security programs fail. The same audit framework used by family offices and Fortune 500 boards before they hire any security firm.
Maritime
& Specialized Operation
Superyacht and vessel security, expedition support, remote medical capability, and the specialized operational requirements that high-net-worth lifestyles increasingly create. Drawn from naval special warfare, Coast Guard, and austere medicine backgrounds.
The disciplines operate as one integrated capability rather than separate service lines. The estate security team coordinates with the executive protection detail. The protective transportation integrates with the digital exposure team. The threat picture assembles from every source and informs every operational posture.
That coordination is the system. The system is the protection.
Who We Serve
We are deliberately selective about engagements. We work with principals and organizations where our operational standard matches the actual exposure profile.
The threat mapping session that begins every engagement establishes whether the match exists.
Our Locations
West Palm Beach, FL
12 minutes from Palm Beach International Airport. 8 minutes from Palm Beach Island. 12 minutes from Manalapan. Centrally positioned to serve all of Palm Beach County with rapid response capability.
Our Licensing and Compliance
HKDS operates under all required state and federal licensing for the services we provide:
- Florida Security Agency License: Class B 3500148
- Florida Class D (Security Officer) Licensed Personnel
- Florida Class G (Armed Security Officer) Licensed Personnel
- Comprehensive General Liability Insurance
- Professional Errors and Omissions Coverage
Our personnel undergo regular training, requalification, and operational review. Our armed officers maintain quarterly firearms qualification. Our executive protection personnel maintain training currency in evasive driving, advance work, threat recognition, and emergency response. The licensing is the floor. The operational standard is the ceiling.
What Working with HKDS Looks Like
Every engagement begins with a Private Threat Mapping Session — a confidential assessment with HKDS leadership covering your current exposure profile, your existing security infrastructure, and the gaps between them. We don’t sell services from a menu. We assess the actual threat environment and design the operational architecture that addresses it.
If we determine the engagement is a fit, we provide a detailed proposal covering scope, operational design, personnel deployment, and engagement structure. If we determine it’s not a fit, we say so directly and recommend firms or approaches that may serve you better. We don’t take engagements we can’t deliver to our standard.
When engagements activate, the operational rhythm shifts. Your estate security team coordinates with your executive protection detail. Your protective transportation integrates with your digital exposure monitoring. The threat picture assembles continuously and informs the operational posture in real time. You stop wondering whether your security is working. You stop discovering gaps. You stop being the integration point between vendors who don’t talk to each other.
That coordination — across disciplines, across markets, across the entire scope of your protective requirements — is what we provide. The discipline is the difference.
“I built HKDS because the security I saw being delivered to wealthy families and executives in this country was not the security those families and executives actually needed. The optics were there. The substance underneath wasn’t. The clients deserved better. The threat environment demanded better. We built better. That’s the work. That’s why we exist.”
